Before I Leave

As I look at you, while I float,

For a last time, before I hit the road,

In the ebony case, carved beautifully,

With a fabric so ethereal, you've dressed me,

My face has never looked so peaceful,

It looks like nothing's been painful,

All of you seem to be in melancholy,

While the priest reads out the litanies,

Litanies, I hear while you mourn for me,

Your sobs, your cries, regret for the tragedy,

I hear you weep, I see you scream,

Saying how good it would have been,

If only she hadn't died, but lived,

But tears now fail to flow down my cheeks,

And it's time to go, my time to leave,

Being one with the air,

I reach for the skies,

I wonder,

Would you say the same things,

If I were alive?
