I have a friend,

Laylah is her name,

Since the day we met,

Things were never the same,

She came startlingly,

As if storm-like from the seas,

She is mostly dormant and asleep,

But when she wakes, she takes what she needs,

Where Laylah came from,

I do not know,

But this I can claim,

She will never let me go,

The bones of her ribs,

Are clawed to my spine,

And those of her throat,

Are pierced in my mind,

In the years that she's gone,

I am at peace, I rejoice,

Because when Laylah awakes,

I become slave to her voice,

She is all that is not sane,

A demon that lays traps,

She revels in people's pain,

Laylah only destroys or grasps,

As seasons leave,

She grows in deep,

Am I now her,

Or is she me?
